Christine S. Janis

Bio

Christine is a graduate of Northern Illinois University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in English
Education and a master’s degree in Sociology/Criminology. After working for 15 years as an instructor in
NIU’s Sociology department, she earned her Juris Doctorate from the Northern Illinois University College
of Law with a Certificate in Criminal Practice in 2016. Prior to entering private practice, Christine served
as an intern for the 18 th Judicial Circuit in DuPage County, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office
(felony, misdemeanor and traffic divisions), and as a judicial intern for the Honorable Judge Michael
Burke of the 2nd Appellate District in Illinois. Prior to joining Mulyk Laho Law, Christine practiced
criminal and family law in the northern and western suburbs, where she represented clients in DuPage,
Kane, Kendall, Will, suburban Cook, DeKalb, McHenry, Lake, and Winnebago counties.

Christine’s practice is concentrated in traffic and misdemeanor defense, estate planning, juvenile
matters, family law, and other miscellaneous legal remedies. She is an active member of the DuPage Bar
Association, DuPage Association of Women Lawyers, Kane County Bar Association, Kendall County Bar
Association, and Illinois State Bar Association. Christine also maintains close ties with the Northern
Illinois College of Law as a member of the NIU Law Alumni Council and volunteer for a variety of law
school activities and mock trial competitions.
